How it works
With mobile storage the storage space comes to you instead of the other way round. We pull up with a van carrying your storage unit, you fill it or we do the lifting, and your belongings then travel to Gouda.
Here is how it works, in five steps:
- You calculate your price and book. You pick your size, your rental period and your service level.
- We come to you. Within 72 hours we are at your door, on the day and the part of the day you choose.
- Your storage unit is closed and sealed. That happens at your door, while you watch.
- Your belongings are stored in Gouda. Climate-controlled, secured and covered, across more than 13,000 m².
- You request the return when you are ready. Within 14 days we are back at your door.
So there is no van to hire, no warehouse to find and no key to look after. The only two moments that ask anything of you are pickup day and the day you want it all back.
The day before, at around 15:30, you get a message with your expected time slot. On the day itself we keep that up to date, and about half an hour before the driver arrives he calls you.
Once he is there:
- He parks in the spot you kept free, two spaces within 20 metres of the door.
- Your storage unit is set down at your door.
- Loading happens according to your service package. With Basis you bring everything to the van; with Premium two crew members take the carrying off your hands.
- The unit is sealed in shrink film, while you watch, and we photograph it.
- The van drives to Gouda. You receive a confirmation with that photo and a link to your customer portal.
If you are ready as agreed, it is usually done within an hour. Every time slot allows plenty of room for a job that runs normally. If it overruns because things still need packing or dismantling, we charge per quarter of an hour. If you would rather hand that work over, book furniture protection or assembly in advance, €180 each.
It happens, and there are fixed arrangements for it.
- It does not fit the space you booked. We make it bigger on pickup day, free of charge. From then on you pay for the volume you actually use.
- We are running late. Our planning team calls you with a new expected time. It costs you nothing, not even if the slot overruns as a result.
- You want to move the appointment. Up to 72 hours beforehand that is free. Within those 72 hours we charge €100, because by then the trip is scheduled and the crew is assigned.
- We arrive at a closed door. Then we charge €50, because the trip has been scheduled and the crew assigned.
- Something is there that cannot come with us. The driver flags it on the spot and you decide what stays behind. The full list is under prohibited goods.
Unsure about something in advance? Call or message us. Nearly everything can be sorted out beforehand and almost nothing on the pavement.
The biggest difference: with a storage box you drive to your belongings, with us your belongings come to you.
- No van and no trips. We collect and we return.
- You pay for the volume you use, not for a fixed box you leave half empty.
- Bigger or smaller is possible mid-term, with no new contract and no move to a different box.
- You can ask for part of it back instead of all of it.
Dropping by is never a problem. It does go by appointment, and that is exactly why your belongings are safe: nobody here walks around among thousands of storage units. We locate yours in advance and have it ready in the reception area, so when you arrive you can get to it straight away, with no waiting.
If you need to be at your things every day, we may not be the right choice. If you come by a few times a month, or a few times a year, you are in the right place.
A removal company takes your belongings from A to B. We are there for the period in between.
That difference counts in two ways:
- Your belongings are loaded once. They go into the storage unit at your home and come out at the destination. With a move plus interim storage they are usually handled twice.
- You do not need an end date yet. If you sell before the new place is ready, you decide later when to request the return.
What we do not do is pack for you or furnish your new home. Carrying help is available through BasisPlus or Premium, and assembly, dismantling and packing help can be booked separately.
Because on one site we can arrange more for you than on twenty, and you never have to go there yourself anyway.
One location instead of a network of branches gives you three things:
- One security regime. Camera surveillance, access control, a fenced site and staff on location. Done properly in one place rather than half-heartedly in twenty.
- One set of conditions. Ventilated continuously and checked daily.
- One team. The people who put your storage unit away are the same ones who find it again.
Gouda sits centrally in the Randstad, which is why our vans serve the whole of the Netherlands and Belgium. Within 80 kilometres and from 3 months, transport is part of the price; beyond that we charge mileage.
Storage units
Most people underestimate this. As a rule of thumb:
- X-Small, 4 to 12 m³: a studio, a small flat, an attic or a small archive
- Small, 14 to 24 m³: a two-room apartment
- Medium, 26 to 36 m³: a home with three or four rooms, or a full household
- Large, 38 to 48 m³: a family home with an attic and a shed
Not sure? In the calculator you enter what you want to store, boxes, wardrobes, beds, bikes, and you see straight away which size fits. It takes a minute.
If your estimate turns out to be off, we sort it out together with you. If it appears on pickup day that you need more space, we usually arrange that the same day and otherwise within 48 hours. You sign off on that extra space and pay for it from that moment on. If you booked too generously, you can have it scaled down through customer service from the second month.
We work with mobile storage units that we place at your door. We combine them into exactly the volume you need, from 4 m³ for a few boxes up to well over 500 m³ for an entire business premises.
One thing to know in advance: a single storage unit is a maximum of 280 centimetres long. If you have something longer, a surfboard, a ladder, a long table, we will sort it out. The same goes for items heavier than 50 kilos, such as a safe, a piano or an exercise bike. What that takes differs per situation, so talk it through with an adviser before you book.
Yes, in both directions, and always at your request. If you need more space, it is added: you sign off on it and pay for the volume you use from that moment on. If you need less, we scale down from the second month and your monthly amount goes down. We never change your rented space on our own initiative.
That is the difference with a fixed storage box. There you rent an enclosed space and pay for the square metres you are not using too. With us you pay for the volume you actually have in use.
Climate-controlled and ventilated continuously, so it stays dry. We measure the conditions daily, so nothing goes wrong unnoticed.
Your storage unit is filled at your home and sealed straight away. That seal stays on until we deliver it back to you. So nobody handles your belongings in transit or in storage.
Damp is the biggest cause of damage in long-term storage, and that is exactly what we take away. In a shed, an attic or a garage box the humidity rises as soon as it gets colder outside. Within a few months you see the results:
- mould on leather and in textiles
- warped wood and glued joints coming apart
- rust on tools and metal
- a musty smell in clothing, books and paper
Your belongings sit climate-controlled and continuously ventilated. No draught, no rain, no direct sunlight. That means you can store almost anything, from archive boxes and furniture to electronics and musical instruments.
The only things we do not accept are items that perish or pose a hazard, because those are exactly the ones that affect other people's belongings. They are on the list of prohibited goods.
At our own storage facility at Antwerpseweg 2 in Gouda, a building of over 13,000 m². Centrally located in the Randstad, which lets us serve the whole of the Netherlands and Belgium without you ever having to drive to a depot.
So your belongings do not go to a branch near you, but to one secured location. That is exactly why we collect them at your door and bring them back there.
Pickup and delivery
We are at your door within 72 hours. You pick the day, and whether you expect us in the morning or the afternoon.
That works because we use mobile storage units rather than a branch you have to drive to. We plan a route; you do not have to rent anything or arrange anything.
Tighter than 72 hours? Call or message us. We shift the schedule more often than you would think, especially outside the busy period around the end of the month.
The whole of the Netherlands, from the Randstad to a remote village in Drenthe. Belgium is included too. Germany and beyond we do by request only.
There is no branch network you are tied to. Everything is stored in Gouda, and our vans drive out from there.
Pickup and return are included within a radius of 80 kilometres around Gouda, on a rental period of 3 months or more. If you live further away or rent for a shorter period, we charge mileage for the trip.
There is no fixed trip price: we calculate it from the distance, your rental period and your service level. Enter your postcode and you will see exactly where you stand.
Yes. We collect wherever it is needed: at a family home being cleared, on a building site, at business premises or at an event venue.
Pickup and return do not have to be the same address either. You can have us collect in Utrecht and deliver in Groningen later, useful if you do not yet know where you will end up.
Want to change the address of an appointment that is already booked? Get in touch and we will see whether it fits the schedule.
Within 14 days of your request, and that is a guarantee.
You pick your delivery date yourself when you submit the request. There is a reason it cannot be tomorrow: your units sit among thousands of others, and behind every request runs a logistics process.
- Your request reaches our planning team.
- The system looks up, by your customer number, which units need to be collected.
- We establish where in the building those units are stored.
- The units are order-picked and staged for transport.
- The trip is scheduled for the date you selected.
So request your return as soon as you know your handover or moving date. The earlier you ask, the more choice you have in the day.
Yes. You can have everything returned at once, or only what you need right now. We call the latter a partial return.
There is no maximum on how much you ask back at a time. What does matter: we do not dig through a storage unit. It has to be clear from the outside what needs to come out. If there is one sofa in there, we bring that sofa. If your boxes are numbered or labelled, we take those out just as easily.
That is exactly why labelling pays off when you pack. If your boxes are numbered, you can pull one out a year later. Our packing instructions explain a practical way to do it.
Do you already know while packing that part of it needs to come back sooner? Put that part in a separate storage unit. An interim delivery then comes down to getting that unit ready.
Yes, always, by appointment. Your storage unit is kept at our storage facility, so we locate it in advance and place it in the reception area. When you arrive you can get to it straight away, without waiting.
During such a visit you can also add something or take something with you. Tell us what you have in mind when you book, and it will be ready. Allow about fifteen minutes.
Four levels, from doing it yourself to handing it over entirely.
- Budget: you bring your belongings to our location in Gouda yourself and get 10% off the rent. No service fee.
- Basis: you bring everything to the van, we handle transport and storage. No service fee.
- BasisPlus: our driver helps with the carrying for up to 30 minutes, up to the second floor without a lift. €50 one-off.
- Premium: two crew members take over the carrying entirely, provided everything is packed and dismantled and ready. The one-off service fee scales with the volume you store.
You choose again for each job. So you can have Premium for the pickup and Basis for the return, if you have help at the unloading end.
Service fees are settled once on your first invoice, on top of the monthly rent. They do not change the monthly rent itself.
We do not pack, in any package: filling and taping boxes stays your job. Protecting your furniture is something we do offer, as well as assembly and dismantling. You book those as separate services, €180 each.
Four things you can add separately, each at a fixed rate:
- Assembly and dismantling of furniture, beds and wardrobes: €180
- Furniture protection, we wrap and protect your furniture, materials included: €180
- A furniture lift for when the stairs are too narrow or you live above the second floor without a lift: €180
- An extra stop along the way, for example if there are also belongings at a second address. That address does need to be within 5 kilometres of the first: €50
Mention it with your request and we will come with the right people and the right equipment. Adding it on pickup day itself rarely works, because the schedule and the crew are already set by then.
Yes, and it often saves money. Your service level is tied to the job, not to your contract.
A common example: for the pickup you choose Premium, because you are on your own and everything still has to come downstairs. For the return you choose Basis, because friends are helping at your new place. That way you only pay for the help you actually need.
The same goes for interim appointments. You choose again with every request.
We work from Monday to Saturday, between 08:00 and 17:00.
The day before your appointment you receive a message around 15:30 with the expected time slot. On the day itself we keep it updated live, so if we are running early or late you will see it. About half an hour before the driver arrives, he calls you.
So you are not waiting at home for half a day. We do ask you to be reachable within the agreed part of the day.
On weekdays you can, for an additional charge. When booking you choose:
- Day start, 08:00 to 10:00: €35
- Morning slot, 08:00 to 12:00: €20
- Afternoon slot, 12:00 to 17:00: €20
We drive on Saturdays too, so you do not have to take a weekday off. Saturday is our busiest day, so we schedule you within the day and do not agree a time slot. A Saturday surcharge of €50 applies.
Even without a surcharge you know where you stand: the day before, at around 15:30, you get your expected time slot, and on the day itself the driver calls you about half an hour before arriving. Do keep in mind that such a slot remains an estimate. A job before yours can run over or finish sooner, so stay reachable and available for the whole part of the day. If you also need to schedule a key handover or a moving company that day, a fixed time slot is worth it.
Up to 72 hours before your appointment you can reschedule or cancel free of charge. Arrange it through customer service or the contact form.
If you reschedule within those 72 hours, we charge €100. By then the route is planned, the van is allocated and the crew is assigned. That cannot be undone without someone else losing their slot.
If you are not home when we arrive, or you do not show up for an appointment at our location, we charge €50.
Preparation
Four things make the difference.
- Use sturdy moving boxes of the same size. They stack tightly and carry each other's weight. Supermarket boxes sag and cost you space.
- Heavy at the bottom, light on top. Books and crockery at the bottom of the box, cushions and clothing above. Keep a box under 25 kilos. Heavier is no fun for anyone.
- Fill the gaps. Empty space in a box means the contents will shift. Packing paper or textiles in between solves that.
- Take apart what you can. A dismantled wardrobe takes up half the space and is far less likely to get damaged. Keep the screws in a labelled bag taped to the furniture.
There is another reason to do this properly: only correctly and sturdily packed items are covered. Damage to loose or poorly packed items is excluded. Our packing instructions set it out per type of item.
Most of the risk is not in the drive, but in the loading and in the weeks that follow. Three points:
- Wrap delicate furniture. Storage blankets or bubble wrap around table tops, cabinet doors and mirrors. Stretch film around that keeps it in place.
- Put mattresses and sofas in a cover. Textiles left open for months collect dust and damp.
- Leave liquids at home. A half-full bottle of oil or cleaning fluid that leaks ruins an entire box in one go.
Being well prepared also means faster loading. That saves you time on pickup day and keeps the time slot from running over.
Yes, three categories.
- Fragile and awkward. Worktops, stained-glass windows, mirrors, marble and pianos need their original packaging or something equivalent. Without proper packaging we may refuse them.
- Valuable. Anything worth more than €500 should be reported in advance, whatever it is. Then we look together at how best to transport and cover it. Art, antiques, collectables, jewellery, fur and precious metals we do not accept. Those belong in a safe or with a specialist.
- Heavy or long. Anything over 50 kilos, a safe, a piano, an exercise bike, or longer than 280 centimetres should be mentioned with your request. Then we come with the right people and the right equipment.
If you do not report something like this and hand it over anyway, our driver can refuse it. That is not unwillingness: breakage is not covered, so handing over unpacked glass or marble means damage that nobody compensates. One message in advance prevents that, and then we arrive with the right people and the right equipment.
For an average household this will do:
- Moving boxes with a sturdy base, preferably all the same size
- Bubble wrap and packing paper for crockery, glassware and picture frames
- Storage blankets for furniture, table tops and cabinet doors
- Mattress and furniture covers against dust and damp
- Stretch film to keep blankets and covers in place
- Markers and labels: your future self will thank you
You can order everything online in one go and have it delivered to your home before you start packing. You are also welcome to ask about it with your request or through customer service.
Ordering from a DIY store or online works too. Do pay attention to the quality of the boxes. That is where the difference lies, and a sagging box at the bottom of a stack only becomes obvious when it is too late.
Five things, and together they take about fifteen minutes:
- Everything packed and taped shut. Make sure that is done before we arrive. Furniture protection or assembly and dismantling can be booked in advance as a separate service.
- Keep two parking spaces free, within 20 metres of the door.
- Make sure the route is clear. Doors open, hallways empty, nothing on the stairs.
- Report heavy or long items in advance, anything over 50 kilos or longer than 280 centimetres.
- Be reachable. Our driver calls about half an hour before arriving.
If you are properly ready, it is usually done within an hour.
Yes. We need two parking spaces within 20 metres of the entrance, and you keep those free. Our van is large and your storage unit has to be moved away from it with a pallet truck.
Do you live in a city centre, a low-traffic zone or a street with paid parking? Then you arrange the permit or exemption with the council yourself. The same applies if a furniture lift is needed. Parking costs are for your own account. If we get a fine because no space was kept free for us, we pass that on. A permit or a cordoned-off space prevents all of it.
Not sure it will work at your address? Call or message us before you book. We drive through city centres every day, so we usually know within a minute where the van can stand.
That depends on the service package you choose.
- Basis: you bring everything to the van yourself.
- BasisPlus: our driver helps with the carrying, up to 30 minutes and up to the second floor without a lift.
- Premium: two crew members take over the carrying entirely, provided everything is packed and dismantled and ready to go.
Do you live on the third floor or higher without a lift, or will nothing fit through the stairwell? Then a furniture lift is required. Up to and including the second floor our crew carries without one; above that you book the lift through us for €180. Mention it with your request and we will arrange it.
Five categories:
- Perishables and food: they attract pests, and that affects more than just your belongings
- Hazardous and flammable substances: fuel, gas bottles, paint, aerosols, anything that can explode
- Illegal goods: weapons, drugs and other prohibited substances
- Live animals and plants: they attract pests, which damages other people's belongings, and they do not survive in a dark space without daylight, water or food
- Cash, securities, precious metals, jewellery and art: those belong in a safe or with a specialist, not in storage
We may also refuse fragile or large items that are not properly packed, and anything that could damage other stored belongings. The full list is under prohibited goods.
Not sure about a particular item? Ask us before you pack it, then you know for certain before the van is at your door.
Because your storage unit does not stand on its own. There are thousands side by side, belonging to just as many other people. What goes wrong in one unit affects the rest.
- Fire safety. Fuel, gas bottles and aerosols are a risk to everyone, not just to you.
- Pests. One forgotten bag of dog food attracts mice, and they do not stay in one unit.
- Leaks. Paint or liquid that escapes soaks through boxes, including your neighbours' on the same rack.
The same logic sits behind the packing requirement. Properly packed belongings do not get damaged, and do not damage anything else. That is also why it is the condition for cover.
Our driver may refuse items on pickup day. That is never pleasant, but it prevents one leaking jerrycan from affecting the belongings of dozens of other people.
If something does come along that should not have, we cannot accept liability for it, including for damage it causes to your own belongings.
Unsure about a specific item? Just ask before you pack it. One message is faster than a discussion on the pavement.
Pricing
Storage starts at €39 per month for 4 m³ on a 12-month rental period. What you pay exactly depends on three things: how much space you need, how long you rent for, and which service level you choose.
As an indication of what fits in which size:
- X-Small, 4 to 12 m³: a studio, an attic or a small archive
- Small, 14 to 24 m³: a two-room apartment
- Medium, 26 to 36 m³: a home with three or four rooms
- Large, 38 to 48 m³: a family home with an attic and a shed
Enter your postcode and preferred size in the calculator and you will see the exact amount within a minute. No quote on request, no waiting for an advisor.
Of three parts:
- The space. You pay for the volume you have in use, from 4 m³ to well over 500 m³.
- The rental period. You choose 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. The longer you commit, the lower the monthly amount. If you already know you need longer, committing up front is cheapest.
- The service level. From Budget, where you bring things to Gouda yourself, to Premium, where two crew members take over the carrying.
What is not part of it: a city-centre rate. The price does not depend on your address but on your space, your period and your service level.
Your distance to Gouda does determine whether transport is included. Within 80 kilometres and on a period of 3 months or more, collection and return are part of the price. If you live further away or rent for a shorter period, mileage costs are added. We do not work with a standard trip price: you pay for your own distance, your rental period and your service level, not for an average. That amount is in your quote, so you know it well before anything is final.
Then you get cheaper per cubic metre. From around 50 m³ we combine several storage units, and volume discount applies to that: you pay less per cubic metre than with a single unit. We work that out for you in a tailored proposal.
For businesses it works the same way. At larger volumes it can be more attractive to take storage by the square metre rather than in mobile units, with loading bays on site. Read more about business storage, or let our advisory team work out both options for you.
Two ways, and they can be combined.
- Commit to a longer period. Three months gives you 5% off the monthly rent, six months 10% and twelve months 25%. Twelve months is by far the best value.
- Choose the Budget package. You bring your belongings to our location in Gouda yourself and get 10% off the rent. That discount comes on top of the discount you already get for your rental period.
Twelve months with Budget is therefore the lowest rate we have. It does not get cheaper than that.
And if you find the same space cheaper somewhere else on a twelve month period? Let us know before you book and we will match that price.
Yes. If you take several storage units, or combine storage with other services, volume discounts apply. The larger the volume, the lower the price per cubic metre.
That applies to private customers with a large household just as much as to businesses with stock or archives. Request a tailored proposal and we will work it out.
For a standard situation you do not need a quote. The calculator gives you an exact amount within a minute, and you can book on it straight away.
A tailored proposal is always an option, even if you only have ten boxes. That is up to you. In these cases we do recommend it, because then we look at a solution that fits you:
- you need more than 50 m³
- you want to combine storage with logistics services
- as a business, you want storage by the square metre, with loading docks on site, instead of mobile storage units
Book a call with our advisory team. There is no obligation and it takes fifteen minutes.
- Preparing your storage unit for transport
- Transport there and back, within 80 kilometres of Gouda, on a rental period of 3 months or more
- Secured and climate-controlled storage
- The basic protection package during transport and storage
- Your customer portal, with your contract, your documents, your invoices and your scheduled jobs
- Scaling up or down during the rental period, free of charge
No lock fees, no administration fees and no deposit.
What you pay beyond that is your own choice: service fees belong to your package, not to your contract. With Budget and Basis they are zero, with BasisPlus a one-off €50, and with Premium they scale with the volume you store, because two crew members then take the carrying off your hands.
On top of that there are four situations in which something is added. Two of them you prevent yourself, two of them you choose yourself:
- You need more space than booked. We adjust the monthly amount proportionally. Always agreed with you first, never a surprise on the invoice.
- Loading or unloading runs over the booked time slot.
- You choose a fixed time slot instead of a half day, or you have us come on a Saturday. A day start costs €35, a half day €20 and Saturday €50.
- You have things returned outside the area where transport is included.
If you live on the third floor or higher without a lift, a furniture lift is required. You book it with us for €180, a fixed amount shown on your request in advance. Without a lift everything goes up and down the stairs, and that costs time you see back as overtime. If you also choose separate services such as assembly or furniture protection, those appear separately on your request.
Every time slot is generous enough for a job that runs normally. If it does run over, we charge per quarter of an hour: €25 for Basis and BasisPlus, €45 for Premium.
In 9 out of 10 cases a job is completed without running over. Preparation is the biggest factor in that. These are the situations that most often cause a job to run over:
- items not yet packed
- furniture not yet dismantled
- no parking space within 20 metres of the door
So make sure you are ready as agreed. It saves you money, and it also saves the customers scheduled after you: every job that runs over pushes their slot back.
If it takes longer because of something on our side, the van is delayed, or we need equipment we do not have with us, you pay nothing extra.
Your monthly amount for the agreed space is fixed for as long as your rental period runs. Once a year we index the rates based on figures from Statistics Netherlands (CBS), so they move with general price developments. That is the only structural change.
When your period ends and you continue? Your agreement converts to a monthly cancellable one at your current rate, with that same annual indexation.
Yes. The amount you see in the calculator is the amount you pay. Nothing is added at checkout.
We do not charge VAT on the rent for your storage space, nor on your protection package. For the other services, transport, carrying help, assembly and dismantling, packing help, a furniture lift, VAT is already included in the amount shown.
You will see that split on your invoice. It makes no difference to your total; it is purely how the amount is made up.
Renting as a business? In the checkout there is a switch that flips your request to business. Amounts are then shown excluding VAT and the rest adjusts to match.
Insurance
Yes, and that is a deliberate choice on our part: we do not want belongings going into storage without cover. If something then happens, you are left with nothing, and nobody should go through that.
You have two options, and you tell us which one you choose in your customer portal within 10 days of booking:
- Your own home contents insurance, which often also covers belongings temporarily stored away from home. You have us confirm the cover.
- A protection package with us: you choose the insured amount yourself.
If you do not tell us within those 10 days, we start a protection package automatically. That way there is never a period in which your belongings are uninsured. You can always change it afterwards.
One thing not to click past: when choosing your package you confirm that the value of your belongings falls within the selected amount. Take a moment over that. It determines what you can fall back on if something happens.
Three standard amounts, per month:
- €2,000 insured: €16 per month
- €5,000 insured: €32 per month, the most chosen option
- €10,000 insured: €50 per month
Need more than €15,000 of cover? That is possible, but we arrange it individually. Mention it with your request and you will receive a suitable proposal.
You can adjust your cover during your rental. If after a month you would rather sit higher or lower, we will arrange it.
Yes, if your insurer covers belongings temporarily stored away from home. Many policies do, but not all of them and not always for the full amount, so check before you assume it.
Does it check out? Then add the details in your customer portal, under My protection package: your policy number, the term and the insured amount. We review it and you will hear whether it has been approved.
Does your insurer ask about the storage location? This is what they usually want to know:
- Address. Antwerpseweg 2, Gouda
- Construction. Entirely brick and concrete
- Security. Camera surveillance, access control, a fenced site and an alarm system
- Fire safety. Sprinklers and smoke detectors
- Access. Staff only
If the cover turns out not to be sufficient, you can still choose a protection package with us.
For the full value of what you are storing. When you choose your package you confirm that your belongings fall within the selected amount, so that amount is also the maximum you can fall back on.
An example: if you choose €5,000 while your belongings are worth €10,000, half of what you own is uninsured. In the event of a large claim, no more is ever paid out than the amount you chose, and at booking you declared that your belongings fitted within it. Choosing too low is not a small saving but half a cover.
When estimating, go through your biggest items: sofa, bed, washing machine, television, bikes, tools. People almost always end up higher than they expected. If you are torn between two packages, choose the more generous one. The monthly difference is small, the difference in a claim is not.
Coming out above €15,000? Then we arrange cover individually. Mention it with your request.
Against the risks that actually occur in storage:
- Fire and its consequences
- Storm
- Water damage
- Theft following a break-in at the building or at your storage unit
In the event of damage there is a deductible of €200 per incident, so not per damaged item. In the meantime we do everything we can to make sure you never need it: your belongings sit in a building of solid brick and concrete, with sprinklers and smoke detectors, camera surveillance, access control, a fenced site and an alarm system, where only staff have access.
Four categories fall outside the cover:
- Cash, jewellery and art. Those belong in a safe or with a specialist rather than in storage.
- Breakable goods. Glass, mirrors and porcelain are not covered against breakage.
- Live animals and plants. They are not allowed in storage either: they attract pests and they do not survive without daylight, water or food.
- Poorly packed belongings. Only correctly and sturdily packed goods qualify for cover.
That last point is the most common reason a claim is rejected, and at the same time the easiest to avoid. Our packing instructions show per type of item what we mean by correctly packed.
Yes. During the trip a different arrangement applies than during storage, and it is not ours: transport falls under the Algemene Vervoerscondities, the statutory arrangement for the carriage of goods in the Netherlands. It has a maximum of €3.40 per kilogram.
Good to know, because that calculates by weight and not by value. For heavy items such as a washing machine that works out well, for light and valuable items it does not: a box of 20 kilos is covered up to €68, even if there is something more valuable inside.
Do you have light items of high value? Mention it with your request and we will look at the best solution together. Here too: only correctly packed goods fall under the cover.
Report it to our customer service within 10 days of discovering the damage. That deadline matters: reporting late can stand in the way of a claim.
Send along whatever you have:
- Photos of the damage and of the packaging
- Purchase receipts or some substantiation of the value
- The date on which you discovered the damage
Take those photos before you unpack or tidy anything up. A damaged item inside the broken box it came in says more than a photo of the item alone.
We take your report on and pass it to the insurer. You will hear from us what is needed and how long it takes. You do not have to chase anything yourself.
If a claim is granted, the €200 excess is deducted. No more is ever paid out than the insured amount you chose. That is the ceiling.
Did you use your own home contents insurance? Then the claim runs through your own insurer. We will supply the information about the storage location and conditions that they need.
Only in exceptional cases, and not without discussing it first. You then sign a waiver, confirming that the storage takes place entirely at your own risk.
Be clear about what that means: there is no cover at all, neither during storage nor during transport. In the event of fire, water damage or theft there is no payment, not even in part.
This route is not a standard option in the booking process. Contact our customer service if you think it fits your situation; the waiver is signed digitally and only becomes valid after our confirmation.
Report it to customer service, just as you would damage, and within the same period of 10 days.
We can usually look into it quickly, because we record both ends. On collection we photograph your storage unit at your door, and on delivery we do the same. Those two moments are the starting point.
If something does turn out to be missing, we start an internal search. Your storage unit stands among thousands of others, so in most cases an item is not gone but in the wrong place.
If that turns up nothing, we handle it as a claim and pass it to the insurer. What helps you there: numbered or labelled boxes and a rough list of contents. Without that, a missing item is far harder to substantiate.
Contract and payments
In four steps:
- Calculate your price with the calculator, or request a tailored proposal.
- Confirm your choice. You pick your size, your rental period and your service level.
- You receive the booking confirmation with the first invoice and a link to your customer portal.
- Book your pickup. As soon as the first invoice is paid, your date is confirmed.
Online is quickest, but it can also be done by phone or email. If you have questions while putting it together, an advisor is happy to help, with no obligation.
As soon as the first invoice is paid. We then reserve your preferred date and send you a confirmation.
We work with a rolling schedule, so days fill up in the order bookings come in. If you are tied to a specific date, a key handover, for instance, it pays not to wait with the payment.
You rent from one month. There is no maximum. Some customers have been with us for years.
When booking you choose a period of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. The longer you commit, the lower the monthly amount. If you do not yet know how long you need, a short period is safer; if you do know, a longer one is better value.
After your chosen period the agreement automatically converts to monthly cancellable. So you are never tied in for longer than the period you chose yourself.
What you can count on:
- Your belongings are stored securely and in climate-controlled conditions, and you can always access them by appointment.
- You can scale up or down during your rental, at no extra cost.
- You know in advance what you pay, with no hidden costs.
What we count on:
- You pack your belongings properly. That is also the condition for cover in case of damage.
- You pay on time, so your storage continues uninterrupted.
- You only store permitted items.
Everything is set out in full in our terms and conditions.
With your booking confirmation you receive a link to your customer portal. Everything to do with your storage sits there in one place.
- Your storage and your jobs. Your size, your rental period, your monthly amount and the storage location. If a pickup or return is scheduled, you see the date and what is planned for that day.
- Your documents. Your contract, the packing instructions, the list of prohibited goods, your protection package agreement and the transport conditions, all downloadable.
- Your invoices. View them, download them and pay through a payment link. You can see at a glance what has been paid and what is still outstanding.
- Your protection package. This is where you tell us how your cover is arranged, or choose a package with us.
- Your details. Your billing address, email address, phone number and payment details.
Cannot find something, or stuck somewhere? Customer service will look at it with you.
You pay the first invoice in advance. As soon as it is in, your pickup date is fixed. We work with a rolling schedule, so days are filled in the order bookings come in: paying quickly works in your favour. After that you get an invoice each month, which you settle with a payment link or by direct debit.
You can pay by iDEAL, credit card, bank transfer or direct debit. There is nothing to arrange at the door: our drivers do not accept payments, so there is no conversation about money on the day itself.
Yes, at any time. Let us know through the contact form or via customer service, and we will switch it from your next invoice.
Direct debit is easiest for most people, because there is nothing to forget. You still receive the invoice by email, purely for your records.
You receive every invoice by email. If you pay with a payment link, it is in that same email. Note that the link is valid for 7 days. If you pay by direct debit, the email is purely for your records.
Lost an invoice, or never received one? Ask customer service and we will resend it right away. It is also worth checking your spam filter.
Nothing drastic happens straight away. You first get a reminder, and if it stays quiet after that, a second one.
If the payment is still outstanding, someone from our own credit control gets in touch. That is a colleague rather than a collection agency, and the point of that conversation is to find a solution: a payment arrangement, a different date, or simply working out what went wrong.
Only if that leads nowhere do we hand the claim to a collection agency. From that moment the costs of that are yours to carry, which is exactly what we would rather avoid.
Struggling to pay for a while? Call or email us before the reminder arrives. An arrangement made up front is easier for everyone than a discussion afterwards.
Your storage simply continues, but on a monthly cancellable basis and at your current rate. You do not need to do anything and you do not need to rebook.
Once a year we index the rates based on figures from Statistics Netherlands (CBS), so they move with general price developments. Nothing else about your arrangement changes.
Already know you will need it for a long while? Committing to a longer period again can work out cheaper. Just ask and we will do the maths for you.
By requesting your return. That is the cancellation: once your belongings are back and your storage unit is empty, the agreement ends.
Within 14 days of your request we are at your door. That is a guarantee and not an aim, so you can plan a move or a handover around it. Request your return at least 14 days in advance. Once your minimum rental period has been met, there is no additional notice period: you pay up to and including the month in which your belongings come back.
Still within your minimum period and want to leave earlier? That is possible too. See the next question.
Within 14 days of your booking you can cancel free of charge. No reason needed, no costs.
If you want to cancel your booking after that, we charge one fixed amount of €100.
If you have already started and want to stop during your rental period, that is not a cancellation but early termination. You then pay the remaining months of the period you chose yourself. After that period your agreement is cancellable monthly.
Do you notice right after the collection that it does not work the way you hoped? Then the satisfaction guarantee applies: let us know within 48 hours and you get your money and your belongings back, with no cancellation fee.
Note the difference with your pickup appointment: that can be rescheduled free of charge up to 72 hours in advance. Within those 72 hours we charge €100, because the route has already been planned.
If you are not happy, you get both your money and your belongings back. You let us know within 48 hours of the pickup, and we bring everything back at no cost to you.
Want to use it? Call or message customer service. The sooner you tell us, the sooner we can drive.
Security
In five ways at once, because security is not a single lock but a series of measures that back each other up.
- Camera surveillance, 24 hours a day. Visible and hidden, inside and out.
- Access control and a fenced site. Nobody comes in unannounced.
- An alarm system and a partnership with a professional security company.
- Staff on site during opening hours.
- A building of brick and concrete, not a shed of corrugated panels.
That last point is not a detail. It is exactly what insurers ask first when they assess a storage location.
Your belongings sit in a building with a sprinkler system and smoke detectors throughout, inspected for fire safety at regular intervals. Because it is built of brick and concrete, fire also spreads far more slowly than it would in a lightweight structure.
That is why we do not accept certain items. Fuel, gas bottles and aerosols pose a risk to everything stored there, not just to the owner's own belongings. The same logic sits behind the ban on perishables, which attract pests.
Ventilation runs continuously and the conditions are checked daily, so damp gets no chance to build up.
Only our staff and others authorised to be there enter the storage area itself. There is no corridor of doors that customers walk along, and there are no visitors among the racks.
If you come by for your own belongings, that happens by appointment and through a separate reception area. We take your storage unit out of the rack in advance and have it ready there. On arrival you identify yourself with your customer number.
Can someone else come on your behalf? Yes, and there are two ways to arrange it. You mention it when you submit your request, and that person identifies themselves on arrival with your customer number. Or you have them added in advance as a contact person, and then they can book an appointment themselves.
Yes, and it happens at your door. As soon as your storage unit is loaded, we seal it in shrink film while you watch. That seal stays on until we deliver it back to you.
That is the difference with a storage box you padlock yourself. With us your unit is not opened in transit, not while it is in storage, and not by a staff member coming to check something. If the seal is intact on delivery, you know nobody has been inside.
If you come to add or collect something in the meantime, the seal is broken in your presence and applied again afterwards.
You, and nobody else without your permission. In our system your storage unit is linked to your personal customer number, and an appointment can only be made in the name of the contract holder or someone they have authorised.
Our staff do move your storage unit, but they do not touch the contents. That is what the seal is for.
You can extend that whenever you want. Authorising someone else to request jobs is possible, and you can have invoices sent to two different people. Useful if you are abroad yourself, or if a family member arranges the collection. The contract stays in the name of one primary contract holder.
Yes, that is possible. You have that person added in advance as a contact person, and from then on they can book an appointment themselves and be present at the collection or delivery.
Without that registration we will not do it, even if someone is standing at the door and it sounds plausible. That is precisely the point: it stops a third party leaving with your belongings.
So arrange it in advance if you cannot be there on the day. A message to our customer service is enough.
Business storage
In two ways, and which one fits depends on your volume and how often you need access.
- Mobile storage units. We come to your location, load up and take it away. Ideal for stock or materials that can be out of the way for a season.
- Storage by the square metre. Your own bay at our storage facility, with loading bays on site. Useful for larger volumes and frequent inbound and outbound movement.
You are not locked into one form. If your stock grows, we scale with it, and where it makes sense we combine both.
Six situations come up most often:
- Terrace furniture for hospitality, over the winter. We collect when the season ends and bring it back before the first warm weather.
- Seasonal retail stock: Christmas decorations, summer collections, holiday ranges.
- Archives you have to keep for statutory retention but do not need day to day.
- Event materials: stands, decor, tents, furniture. We also collect at the event venue itself.
- Webshop stock that moves with peak periods.
- Pallets, protected against damp, temperature swings and theft, ready for distribution.
The common thread: space in your own premises is expensive, and you only need these things for part of the year.
In Gouda we have over 13,000 m², so capacity is rarely the constraint. From a few pallets to an entire building's worth of stock.
More important than the upper limit is that you can move with demand. If your stock drops after a peak, we scale down and you pay less. That is not the case with a fixed rented space.
Want to see where your stock will sit? A site visit is possible, by appointment.
Alongside storage we take on part of the work around it, at parcel-unit and pallet level. What we do not do is fulfilment at individual item level and courier work.
- Preparing outgoing shipments. We take cases or pallets from your stock and set them ready to go. Picking individual items out of a box is not something we do.
- Receiving and storing deliveries. Your supplier delivers to us, we take the shipment in and put it away. We do not check the contents against your order. That stays with you.
- Keeping track of stock. On request we record what is there, so you do not have to count it yourself.
- Transport. To and from your locations, or to a customer, on a fixed arrangement, topping up your shop stock a few times a month, for instance. Daily runs or one-off deliveries are not what we do.
What fits depends on your volume and your rhythm. Put your situation to our advisory team and you will know straight away what we can do for you.
Yes. One person is the main user, named on the contract and managing access. Alongside that you add employees as contacts, so they can book appointments and come by themselves.
Everyone identifies themselves with the same customer number for your company. If something changes in your team, you let us know and we update the list.
That takes one email when someone leaves, but it also stops a former employee still reaching your stock.
Yes, with the main user's permission and by appointment. Your supplier identifies themselves with your customer number, and we then know the delivery is expected and where it belongs.
For loading and unloading we have bays on site, so a lorry can pull straight up. If you would rather we receive the delivery and put it away, we can do that too, and then nobody from your side needs to be there. We do not check the contents against your order, that stays with you.
Do announce a delivery in advance. A carrier turning up unannounced at the gate will not get in.
By default we invoice every 30 days. If that does not suit your administration, quarterly, half-yearly or annual invoicing is also possible.
Whether you can pay on account, and on what terms, depends on what you take. A company renting a few storage units gets a different arrangement from one taking three hundred square metres with logistics on top. We agree it when we draw up your proposal.
In the checkout there is a switch that flips your request to business. Amounts are then shown excluding VAT and the rest adjusts to match.
If you take several storage units or combine storage with logistics services, volume discounts apply and you receive one proposal for the whole. Ask for a calculation and you will see what the options cost.
